So folks, what are your favourite tracks on this album?
I was pleasantly surprised by the version of Wichita Lineman - firstly because they had chosen that track anyway and secondly because of the gorgeous production and arrangement of it. Although I loved the original, I never thought the little guitar solo by Glen Campbell worked and that jarred for me. This Hussey-Regan version remedies that completely, creating a mixture of ambient-pop that is just so great on the ears!
Ordinary World was another pleasant surprise. I love the Hussey-Regan version of this.
It's funny as in the mid-eighties, when I was only 16 or so, I was into music well before my time - The Incredible String Band, Fairport Convention, The Beatles, Roy Harper, Nick Drake, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young etc. The only contemporary artists I enjoyed were Kate Bush, All About Eve, and Suzanne Vega. Now, 25 years later, I can say with all honesty that I enjoy Bucks Fizz, Duran Duran, Toto, Rick Astley and all of that eighties pop.
